Sigma Solutions’ SolarWinds Classroom Training is a three-day course offered on a regularly scheduled quarterly basis.  The training is delivered in a classroom setting in a four star hotel in Austin, TX.  Transportation to and from the airport is included in the course offering, as well as breakfast and lunch.  To facilitate learning, students are provided with wireless access to connect to the classroom lab and the Internet, students also receive a training manual to assist them in navigating through both the lecture and labs for each session.  This course is designed to teach the full breadth of the SolarWinds Orion product suite.  The instructor will define the goals and objectives at the beginning of each day and students are encouraged to participate in a fun and exciting atmosphere.  The instructor for each session is a SolarWinds certified Engineer from Sigma Solutions.

Course Objectives

Upon the completion of this course the student should be able to:

• Knowledgeably plan for and install an Orion Network Performance Monitor System and its corresponding module.
• Determine the appropriate network elements, nodes and devices to be monitored.
• Establish the maximum efficiency of their license structure and then populate Orion with those particular elements.
• Set various alerting notification features like thresholds, filters, and conditions for specific business unites as well as for different users within those business units.
• Set and administer user based roles, access, and permissions.
• Construct and customize hierarchical nested network maps and build custom reports and dashboards.
• Utilize all Orion Modules

Prerequisites

For students to fully benefit from this course, they should posses a basic conception and understanding of:

• Router configuration
• Switch configuration
• Virtual local area network (VLAN) configuration
• Basic transport protocol (i.e. TCP, UDP)
• Common network protocols (i.e. SNMP, FTP, ICMP, DNS).

• SolarWinds customers, who have already deployed Orion and are interested in learning how to better utilize the product.
• SolarWinds customers who have recently purchased Orion and are interested in understanding how to most effectively implement, use and maintain the product.
