Description

Sigma Solutions Onsite SolarWinds Training is offered with a combination of two proven methods. The first method is “Traditional Classroom Training” or the TCT method.  The TCT method is a  lecturer delivering content in a classroom setting that can be a conference room or classroom at your location.  The TCT method is intended for a general audience of anyone using the product.  The second method consists of “On the Job Training/Professional Services” or OJT/PS.  This method provides a “hands on” learning approach where Sigma’s SolarWinds professionals work side by side with your engineers to systematically work through the various components of the Orion Suite most important to your enterprise.  We have found that interspersing these two training methods results in the most effective learning experience for our customers.  While there are many standard components of the curriculum, the content of the training can also be customized to meet your specific requirements.  As a result, the first day is usually focused exclusively on Orion’s flagship product, Network Performance Monitor, while the second day and optional third day is typically devoted to the other Orion modules that your company has purchased.

Course Objectives

Upon the completion of this course the student should be able to:

• Knowledgeably plan for and install an Orion Network Performance Monitor System and its corresponding modules.
• Determine the appropriate network elements, nodes and devices to be monitored.
• Establish the maximum efficiency of their license structure and then populate Orion with those particular elements.
• Set various alerting notification features like thresholds, filters, and conditions for specific business units.
• Set and administer user based roles, access, and permissions.
• Construct and customize hierarchical nested network maps and build custom reports and dashboards.
• Utilize each of the Orion Modules that your organization has purchased.

Prerequisites

For students to fully benefit from this course, they should possess a basic understanding of:

• Router configuration
• Switch configuration
• Virtual local area network (VLAN) configuration
• Basic transport protocols (i.e. TCP, UDP)
• Common network protocols (i.e. SNMP, FTP, ICMP, DNS)
